(Oct. 1, 2024)—The Atlanta Police Foundation (APF) proudly celebrated the graduation of 24 young participants from its @Promise @Work (APAW) workforce development program. This milestone marks the 10th graduation ceremony for the program, which has transformed the lives of many young individuals over the past two years.

The ceremony highlighted the remarkable achievements of the graduates, who completed a demanding 12-week course focused on professional and vocational training, mock interviews, and resume building—essential tools for success in today’s competitive job market.

Attendees were moved by powerful personal stories from the graduates, who shared their journeys and aspirations as they stepped into their professional futures. Each graduate received a certificate of completion and awards for perfect attendance, celebrating their dedication and hard work.

Designed for youth ages 16 to 24, the @Promise @Work program equips participants with vital skills and certifications to secure meaningful employment. Since its launch in 2022, the program has graduated hundreds of young people, offering four sessions annually.

“As a whole, it molded me into a better person and helped me develop a positive mindset for building relationships and conducting business,” said Daquarius Hixon, an APAW graduate.

In a heartfelt gesture of generosity, hip-hop artist Tee Grizzley gifted each graduate a laptop, providing them with valuable tools to further their education or grow the businesses they launched during the program. His support highlights the crucial role of community engagement in empowering and uplifting Atlanta’s youth.

The event showcased the powerful collaboration between APF, the Atlanta Police Department, and community leaders and influencers, proving that with the right support and resources, young people can overcome challenges and build brighter futures.
