ATLANTA, GA (Oct. 17) — The Atlanta Police Foundation (APF) hosted a thought-provoking discussion led by Dave Wilkinson, APF President & CEO, with the Young Atlanta Leaders (YAL) Class of 2024, a diverse group of 20-25 up-and-coming business professionals and influencers.

The event focused on key APF public safety initiatives and highlighted the critical role YAL can play in collaborating with city officials to enhance public safety across Atlanta.

Wilkinson provided insights into several APF-funded programs, including the At-Promise Centers, the Public Safety Training Center, and the Repeat Offender program. These initiatives work to address the root causes of crime and foster a safer community.

YAL, a group of young professionals dedicated to civic engagement and social impact, is committed to empowering the next generation of leaders to shape Atlanta’s future.

“There’s been a lot of discussion around public safety, but I didn’t hear enough from young voices,” said Julius Thomas, CEO of The People United. “So, I reached out to APF to make sure we were part of the conversation.”

The event featured a Q&A session, a detailed discussion with Wilkinson, and a tour of APF’s @Promise Center, which focuses on early intervention and youth development.

“It’s been incredible to learn more about APF’s efforts to tackle crime at its roots,” Thomas added. “Now, we feel even more equipped to present actionable strategies to Mayor Andre Dickens.”
